Life's a beach for Dock & Bay

Dock & Bay offer an innovative solution to the beach, thought up by two friends from opposite ends of the globe while travelling. Launched in August 2015, Aussie Ben and Brit Andy retail a colourful range of super absorbent, sand-repellent microfibre towels.

Providing a point of difference in the $22 billion beach and swimwear market, their towels are 2 metres in length, making them the biggest yet most compact towel in their sector. It is no surprise then, that their products quickly became UK & USA top-ranked sellers on Amazon. Hoping that the well-informed advice of an experienced investor would fuel further business growth, Ben and Andy took to Dragon’s Den in 2017, where they successfully received a £75,000 investment from Deborah Meadon.

Deborah comments on her belief in the brand:

“Doing what towels have done for years only faster, lighter, more compact- they make the best kind of business. Take a product everyone knows and uses and make it better”.

Thanks, in part, to Deborah’s generous investment, Ben and Andy were able to experiment with new products and expand their range into the wider swimwear market- the most recent addition being male swim shorts made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. The exposure the brand received from the show also launched their business to the new level. With their number of placed orders surging, Dock & Bay needed a fulfilment house with a flexible storage offering to support their current and future acceleration of growth. Dock & Bay also retail their products on eBay, Amazon and via their Magento-powered website; it was our ability to integrate with these marketplaces, pulling their order details through to our order processing platform in real-time, that also helped seal the deal.  

Since successfully going live Dock & Bay have already processed, packed and dispatched over 500 orders from our Chorley-based fulfilment centre. As the business continues to grow from strength to strength, we can’t wait to see what colourful new products they’ll come up with!
