Accelerated onboarding for Clearstone Trading

Records tumble as new fulfilment client is onboarded within four days.

On 1st November we were approached by London-based online retailer Clearstone Trading to tender for fulfilment services. After an initial courtship, both parties liked the cut of each other’s jib and terms were swiftly agreed within a couple of days. However, there was a snag – orders would need to ship from our warehouse no later than the 7th November! Specifically, Amazon had invited Clearstone to trial for the Seller Fulfilled Prime programme and this involved dispatching over 100 orders to 100% service level over a 5 day period. If successful, they would be able to list items under the Prime moniker, dispatching from stock rather than via Amazon’s distribution centre (FBA).

At this point, our onboarding team swung into action, implementing the fulfilment platform, importing product data, authenticating the Amazon API integration and submitting a test pack to DPD (Amazon’s nominated carrier).

By the 6th November, the warehouse operations team were able to successfully receipt initial deliveries from two suppliers. The stock was stowed into picking locations and ready for sale within 6 working hours. All was now set fair for launch.

At 08.30 on the following day, the first orders were automatically picked up through our API, processed and picked on handhelds at the Martland Park warehouse within five minutes. Subsequently, all orders were shipped on time and by the 14th November, Clearstone were Prime-certified by Amazon and poised to take advantage of this game-changing shipping programme with the expansion of stock holdings planned in the run-up to Christmas.

Commenting on the partnership to date, Clearstone Managing Director, Craig Addison: “the onboarding process was incredibly slick and despite our haste to implement before the Christmas rush, service levels were way ahead of our expectations from day one. Amazon Prime is a key element of our overall sales mix and we are pleased to have found an ideal partner to help drive growth over the next 12 months and beyond.”

The speed at which the Exact Abacus team were able to respond to this demanding requirement amply demonstrates the power of our fulfilment technology and expertise. Other clients trading on Amazon are expected to follow suit in early 2018 and join SFP, safe in the knowledge that we will support them every step of the way.
